Ellen is nationally certified and registered with the Yoga Alliance as a teacher at the advanced 500-hour training level. Dedicated to serving the unique needs of her students, Ellen emphasizes “the appropriate application of yoga for the individual”. Even in group class settings, Ellen works at refining the skill of understanding each student’s body and recommending modifications, where necessary, so they may truly experience the benefits of their yoga practice. An extremely caring teacher, Ellen encourages her students to explore their abilities and limitations during their practice on, or off, the mat. The practice of yoga is to serve the individual, not to have the student serve the practice. She believes that everyone can benefit from yoga and yoga should be accessible to everyone regardless of age, body type or physical limitation. It is Ellen’s extensive training in yoga and dance, along with her nurturing spirit that make her a truly gifted teacher. |

She is a certiified Kripalu Yoga teacher and is also certified as a Yin/Yang teacher through her studies with Sarah Powers. | Mimi Cho was born and raised in Seoul, Korea where she attended Art and Music Junior and High Schools. Upon graduation she moved to New York where she continued her education at Parson’s School of Design majoring in Fashion Illustration. Soon thereafter, she embarked on a career in the fashion retail industry. She worked for many years in a highly competitive and stressful environment, during which time her health was adversely affected. It was at this time that Mimi turned to yoga. She attributes yoga with not only getting her through an extremely difficult time, but also in helping her regain her health, as well as her spirituality. “I was fortunate to find this wonderful tool called Yoga, which is helping me navigate through my life. I love sharing my journey with my students with the hope that they may also experience the discovery of their true selves, leading to peacefulness through contentment. That is the ultimate happiness which we all would like to achieve in the end”. |
| It was through her ballet classes at the University of Iowa that Sarah became aware of the therapeutic and transcending quality of movement. She deepened her understanding of those qualities through yoga. So she could share the transformative power of yoga, Sarah began her training as a yoga teacher and received her 500-hour ISHTA Yoga certification from Alan Finger at Be Yoga (now Yoga Works). Her classes are fun and challenging, and she incorporates the physiological and philosophical reasons we practice. Sarah works at the Late Show with David Letterman where she also teaches yoga to the staff. She’s on the faculty of STEPS on Broadway, and teaches yoga to the staff and friends of the Baryshnikov Arts Center. |

Michelle is originally from a small town in California and has been living in NY for over 8 years. She was inspired to practice yoga by her Aunt, Nanci Frank, a yoga teacher in California who introduced her to the benefits of this practice. Michelle has been practicing yoga for five years now, but these last two years have been life altering. Enjoying this new found way of living, Michelle enrolled in a teacher training program with Charles and Lisa Matkin at Satsang Yoga Center in Garrison. In addition, she has received certification to teach Prenatal Yoga through Betsy Kase at Yoga Haven in Tuckahoe. Inspired by her trainings, Michelle recently made a brave career change to teach yoga and manage The Yoga Sanctuary. Her greatest desire as a teacher is that all her students find their inner peace—as she has found in herself—and hopes they will learn to bring yoga into their everyday life, both on and off the mat. |

Not too long after that, she enrolled in Yoga Haven's teacher training program and was certified in 1998. Reyna began her Prenatal Yoga studies as a way to help her through her second pregnancy. She now regularly teaches Prenatal Yoga classes as well as adult classes. Her style of teaching is influenced by the many rich traditions that yoga has to offer.
